Planters Peanuts

SUMMARY:

Functionally obsolete and lying vacant for nearly seven years, this 73,000 SF building was lifted to double its original clear height. Seeing the value of the building's location, it was purchased and converted into a modern and efficient asset and became the new centralized distribution center for Planters Peanuts in Canada.

Just a few weeks of preparation work were required for the actual lift. Once the lift was completed, the structural steel and the finishing were started. The exterior was closed in within four to six weeks along with reconnection of mechanical and electrical lines.

"If we were to turn that whole building into rubble and start fresh, it would cost a whole lot more money than it's costing to just raise the roof and fix it up. We're just lifting the roof and adding steel." said John Lagorakis, VP of Special Projects, Johnvince Foods, Ltd.
