F.A.Q.

  • How much does it cost to lift a roof?

The cost to lift a roof varies and is dependent on the specifications of each project. In most cases, a budgetary number can be calculated based on the amount of square feet to be lifted and some basic information. If you would like information on costs, please contact us at 1-866-331-6150 or simply complete and submit our estimate form.

  • How much weight can be lifted?

The ROOFLIFTERS CribPost system is designed so that each post has a lifting capacity of 25 tons. In cases where weight exceeds 25 tons, the CribPost are simply clustered. In some cases interior columns will require two, three, or even four CribPosts which would provide up to 100 tons of lifting capacity.

  • How many square feet can be lifted at one time?

ROOFLIFTERS has lifted roofs ranging from less than 1,000 SF to over 600,000 SF. In most cases the entire roof area can be raised in single lift. Other times, the roof can easily be sectioned off at the expansion joints. Typically the largest practical size per section is around 150,000 SF in a single lift. Yet larger sizes are possible.

  • How do you prevent the roof from drifting when its being raised?

Control of drift and movement of the entire roof structure is crucial. ROOFLIFTERS has developed a unique system of guying cables to ensure that drift is controlled. Using cables allow our company to maintain strict tolerances within 1/8 of an inch. Relying on encased column sleeves provides minimal lateral stability and control.

  • Is the lifting height limited to twice the existing column length?

Absolutely not. The ROOFLIFTERS process and CribPost system was specifically designed to address this concern. Lifting can be more than double or even triple the existing height.

  • Does the roofing need to be replaced after lifting?

No. Lifting does not affect the roofing or roof deck directly. In fact, no work related to actual lifting ever takes place on the surface of the roof itself.

  • What is the maximum height a roof can be lifted?

Typically commercial and industrial roofs do not exceed clear heights of 45 feet. That is not too say, however, that roof lifting is limited to that height. ROOFLIFTERS has lifted structures as high as 72 feet.

  • How do you keep the roof level when lifting?

ROOFLIFTERS has developed a patented system to synchronize the lift by monitoring the relative movement of each lifting point. This provides an accurate measurement of each point and allows large areas of roof to be lifted at one time in a controlled manner.
